Reflections on Week 1

 Quick Reflections on Week 1

+/- This class seems less structured than my previous classes
+ I like the layout of the slides
- I get an overall disconnected feeling with this class
It may be beneficial to connect the dots from week to week - maybe a summary slide?
- I am still finding it very difficult to work to a Friday deadline - and still find it disturbing that no due dates are listed.
- I don't like having no comments from the professor or my classmates on posts.
Would it be possible to share blog addresses with the class so review and feedback could be given. Not sure if this is within the scope of the class or not.
- I know blackboard can be frustrating, but how will we receive grades for work if none of it is "turned in"?
It might be a good idea to do touch bases on a somewhat regular basis so grading and expectations are clear.
+ I like having posts in the blog format. I think that using this is unconventional but a bit more freeing.

Comments

  1. Great! Helpful feedback. These posts naturally help me improve the course, know where students are with the material, and help structure/balance the course as best as possible (it's always hard to know how much/how little structure there should be in a graduate online class...my sense is less is more...). Let's talk more about these pieces, and look for some refinements on my end that hopefully clear up/refine the class.
